Valerie:
After downloading the above settings to your desktop, all you need to do is double click each of the icons. The settings router that was installed along with Eye Candy 5 will do the rest for you. Or, you can do the easier task of simply choosing the "Open" option after clicking on the settings name above. If Eye Candy 5 is installed properly on your machine, the setting should automatically be placed in the appropriate folder. Edited by Jeff - 30 May 2008 at 9:56am |

I don't think they'll show up until you restart PSP. The settings will be in the Settings tab of each appropriate Filter.

You need to find the Eye Candy folder somewhere on your computer and move it PSP's Plugins folder on your hard drive.
The path should be: C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro\Plugins\Eye Candy You did run the installer, right? |

Yeah, the above files are for Eye Candy 5: Textures. They will not work in any other program.

Just a note. I got a new G5 and installed Eye Candy on my new Mac. Then I downloaded the Textures and double clicked each one. They installed without a hitch.

I guess my confusion is, can these textures be added to Eye Candy 5 Nature or Textures?

These settings are for Eye Candy 5: Textures only. If you have Eye Candy 5: Textures installed, simply click on each link above and let the settings router do all the work. The settings router gets installed with Eye Candy 5.

Nice textures. Glad I came here. I was really just trying to find out what that Alien Skin Settings Router is that installed with the filters. It works pretty efficiently. It sent the downloads right where they were supposed to go. They showed up properly in the filter dialog panes.

Regardless of where the user installed their plug-ins, the user-defined settings, which include the ones we offer on the message boards, should go to the same place. Some of these folders may be hidden. The user may have to turn on the "view hidden files" option for their folder view. All Alien Skin plug-ins released after Eye Candy 4000 – including any Eye Candy 5 product, Xenofex 2, Splat!, and Image Doctor – store their user settings here:
Mac users: /Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/Alien Skin/ Windows users: /Documents and Settings/<user name>/Application Data/Alien Skin/ For example, Eye Candy 5: Nature user-defined settings are located here: Macintosh Users: /Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/Alien Skin/Nature folder. Windows Users: /Documents and Settings/<user name>/Application Data/Alien Skin/Eye Candy 5 Nature folder. |

Here's a secret. These files are plain text so you can open them in WordPad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac. (Do that by saving to your desktop and then right-clicking on the file, or, if your web browser prompts you, you can open in WordPad directly from the link.)
The second line of the file will look like this: <setting set="Eye Candy 5 Textures" filter="DiamondPlate" name="Abstract Gold"> That tells you what filter it goes with, so you can manually save it to a factory settings folder or wherever else you like. Here's the list from the first post, resorted. Animal Fur Agouti Seamless Tile.f1s Blue Merle.f1s Tabby Seamless.f1s Brick Wall Abstract Grey.f1s Beige Ceramic.f1s Sidewalk.f1s Diamond Plate Abstract Gold.f1s Smooth Pink Nubs.f1s Marble Electric Marble.f1s Reptile Skin Dragon Scales.f1s Mud Balls.f1s Stone Wall Sandstone.f1s Swirl Swirl Painterly Tutorial.f1s Weave Basket Threads.f1s Brown Basket.f1s Op Art.f1s Small Basket.f1s Wood Hardwood Floor.f1s Thin Designer Boards.f1s |

Thank you both!
I couldn't see the new/additional files in the Textures Settings folders, but the original ones were there. That's why I thought they weren't in the right place. When I dled the additional Nature Settings from another thread, the links had the Effect name as well as the Settings name, so I navigated to the appropriate Effect/Settings folder and dropped them there. So, this isn't really necessary, Jerry? I should just let the router handle the whole job? Kevin, that's a great tip!! Thank you!

After downloading
Double click any of the icons and the settings will be auto installed... In PSP make a new document and add text... Then make the text a Raster Layer... Go to Effects/Plugins/Eye Candy 5 and choose any filter... Click on the settings tab and u should see User Settings below Factory Settings... This is where your addon settings will be... If none available then choose another filter until you see them...

If Fireworks and Photoshop were running when you installed EC 5 Textures, restart them. Also, make sure that you installed EC 5 Textures into Fireworks' and Photoshop's Plug-Ins folder on your hard drive.

When using one of the EC 5 Textures filters, click on the Settings tab and look at the bottom, left hand side of the user interface. You should see the new settings there.

Here is a leather like texture that I came up with by using the Stone Wall filter of Eye Candy 5 Textures.
I thought it easiest to provide a good old fashioned screen shot of my slider values rather than a file

But Thanks for your help...Hugs gaydria |

I think that good leather requires a specially made filter. I'll add this idea to our filter wish list right now. Thanks!
